The previous webmaster could no longer keep up with the project and turned it over to his hosting company, Unepic Networks, in the hopes that it would remain free and continue to provide value to businesses and to those trying to make an extra dime outside the banking system.

The Lead Problem

One of the biggest complaints I received when taking over the site was that it never generated any leads for the sellers. And that's a valid complaint. But it should make us all think, why do potential buyers not use the site? As sellers of a product or service, it behooves us to list it in as many places as possible, especially if it's free. But for a potential buyer, what about the site expresses to them that the sellers are legitimate, its a free listing after all. The site shodul aid in the endorcment of the seller. I want this tool to help you get sales and contacts.

Quality Over Quantity

To address this concern, I'm taking a quality-over-quantity approach to the site. I'm now tasked with auditing 288 listings, many of which point to expired domain names and email addresses that bounce back or no longer exist. Imagine, for a moment, that you are a potential buyer, but the email you send to a seller bounces or goes unanswered. You are unlikely to contact anyone on the page again.

Validation

The first step is validation of the listing. There are no 20 questions or interrogation, it's just a simple request: send me an email, let me know you're still out there, and want to keep your listing active. I have received numerous emails from kind and thoughtful people who, in one simple sentence, express that they want to be here, take their business seriously, and can provide decent customer engagement if the leads start to come in. So prepare for the BEST outcome: shoppers who have a good experience and receive a high-quality product or service, so they want to come back and look at other listings.
